Outfit | Green with Envy

A while ago I saw a girl wearing a green boyfriend (Oversized )blazer and instantly wanted it so I hunted one down on eBay for £8 :D. Unfortunately, when I received my purchase I was'nt too happy with my purchase though. This blazer is vintage but its a size 16 so it is extremely big on me :( I would have preferred a 14.

Earth Hairdressing

This is long overdue (well only by a week) but last week I attended the Earth Hairdressing bloggers event in Oxford Circus which I decided to take my girl Annie along(it was her first event).

It was a great night with wine, sushi, facials, eye brow threading and consultations.

The Selection of Sushi(Picture taken by Jen from www.jjnoir.blogspot.com)

My favourite part of the night was speaking to an Afro hair specialist in regards to my obsession with wanting to go natural. She explained to me that I didn't have to CHOP my hair off which was great news and she told me which products and hair styles to go for soo I'm excited to start my six
months NO relaxer trial(Wish me luck).

I got to meet some great bloggers on the night like the lovely
Jen and Nnena
I also got to finally meet Ree from www.reallyree.com who I already knew from emails lol. The lovely Anna Paolo designer of
Poalita beachwear was there because it is her hairdressers.

I had a great time and would like to thank Lois from
www.bunnipunch.co.uk and owner of Carrot Top PR for inviting me.

Friendship...

According to Wikipedia: Friendship is a form of interpersonal relationship generally considered to be closer than association, although there is a range of degrees of intimacy in both friendships and associations. Friendship and association can be thought of as spanning across the same continuum.

So today I wanted to write about something other than fashion/beauty. Just last week I was telling a friend of mine that I think I am a bad friend.  I have friends but I am very bad at communicating with them. I am not the type of friend that just decides to to call my friends. When they call me I find any excuse to get them off the phone and I have no idea why. The only way I keep in touch with friend is via BB messenger and if I didnt have that I probably wont know what's up with them. Its very bad I know.

Anyway, today I asked a handful friends if they thought I was a good friend and the reply was yes. So although I don't call my friend all the time they I know they are always there for me. One thing I hate about friendship or even life is confrontation and argument. I hate them so much because they get me stressed and quite frankly I just don't know how to do it. So when a friend upsets me I don't just go 'Hey you! you know you upset me when you done this or that.' Instead of confronting the person I basically just brush it away as no 'biggie. Before last year, I have never argued with a friend till it got to the point of not talking. Instead I just leave the friendship to drift away hoping it will come back again.

Like wikipedia states,One thing I value about friendship it is the tendency to want the best for them and wanting them to be happy. I can go through great lengths for friends just to make them happy. One thing that keeps friendship going is understanding. I have always said understanding is the key to life and one thing that I know I am is understanding.

Only a handful of my friends understand me. When I am upset they know exactly how to comfort me, when I am happy they share in my happiness, when I need advice they are there to give it to me.

In opinion, some people have an unrealistic idea of friendship. They expect it to be beds of roses, sleep overs, long convos on the phone and blah, blah blah. But to be that is not friendship. Friendship is about loyalty, trust, honesty and  positive reciprocity.  I hate one sided friendships whereby one is always giving and the other just sits there and receives. I find it unfair.

Anyways...I just wanted to air this .I hope it makes sense ;s. If I continue, the post will be very very long.

So are your ideas on friendship? what type of friends do you have? what keeps your friendship going? what do you look for in a friend?.

All Walks Beyond the Catwalk

I have been a huge fan of the work carried out by All Walks beyond the Catwalk since I read an article by Caryn Franklin in the March 2011 issue of Elle Magazine headlined is “Is fashion Fatist, Ageist and Racist”. In the article, she talked about diversity in fashion and how it is very important.

I also got to meet Caryn and Debra at the NBBE (national beauty blogging event) where they went into detail about the organization and what they do and why it is so important. They also explained that the power is in the hands of the current generation and it is up to us to change things.

All Walks beyond the Catwalk is an award winning organization with an aim to diversify Fashion. The organization was founded by Caryn Franklin, Debra Bourne and Erin O'Connor.

Following the success of their Spring/Summer 11 campaign titled SNAPPED, All Walks Beyond the Catwalk will be launching the first ever Centre of Diversity with  Edinburgh College of Arts at their 2nd annual All Walks Future Forum at Graduate Fashion Week.

“We want student fashion designers to be introduced to a realistic range of body shapes during their training process. Diversity can enhance craftsmanship not impede it.”   All Walks, Co-Founders Caryn Franklin, Debra Bourne and Erin O’Connor.

The Educational Centre is set to encourage students to use a diverse body shape to meet consumer demands .All Walks believe that it is important to promote fashion as an inclusive and inspirational force for women by creating imagery that mirrors the diverse and individual beauty of women, and design that has been informed by knowledge of a realistic body shape not just a tailors dummy or a sample size model.
This year’s forum is set to take place on the 7th of June with an attendance by Govt. Minister for Equalities and Lib Dem Body Confidence Campaign founder, Lynne Featherstone.

Rihanna - Man Down (Official Music Video)

Rihanna has finally released the video for the Single 'Man Down' and I have to say I love it. I loved the song when I heard it due to its dancehall/reggae vibe and I love the way the video is not over the top. Some say she is trying too hard to sound 'Jamaican' but I say she is just finally getting in touch with her Caribbean side. Keep it up Rih Rih.
